Burton Recycling Centre to be Closed for Essential Maintenance Work from January 18th

Last modified - Wednesday 13 January 2010

Burton residents are being asked to use an alternative household waste recycling centre for a nine day period due to essential maintenance work.

Resurfacing work, costing £70,000, is taking place at the Burton Household Recycling Centre, Shobnall Road from Monday January 18, meaning the centre will be closed until Tuesday January 26.

Staffordshire County Council's recycling bosses have appealed to centre users to be patient while they get the vital work done as quickly as possible.

Local County Councillor Peter Beresford said: "We apologise for this temporary inconvenience of the Burton closure but I can assure residents that the resurfacing will boost safety in the long term.

"Recycling has a big part to play in protecting our environment, so it is vital that we keep our centres in good condition. The team needs to close this site to ensure that the upgrade can be carried out in safety."

An alternative household waste recycling centre can be found at Pennycroft Lane, Uttoxeter, ST14 7BW. The site will be open every day from 9am to 4.30pm while the Burton centre is closed.

Anyone who would like further information should ring Staffordshire County Council on 0800 23 23 23 or 01785 277452.
